Steps for Restarting the Glovebox After an Extended Holiday Shutdown
-
Inspect for Damage:
Check the exterior of the glovebox for any damage. Examine the gloves for signs of aging, cracks, or other damage, and replace them if necessary.
-
Clean the Exterior:
Clean the glovebox exterior to remove dust and any accumulated contaminants.
-
Prepare the Working Gas:
Ensure the required gas supply is ready (2 cylinders for a single-station glovebox, 3 for a double-station glovebox, and so on) and confirm the gas connections are secure.
-
Connect the Power Supply:
Plug in the glovebox, checking the power cable for damage, wear, or loose connections.
-
Power On and Check for Leaks:
Turn on the main power switch and open the gas pressure regulator. Perform a leak test on the gas lines, glovebox chamber, and transfer antechamber to ensure there are no leaks.
-
Activate the Purging:
Turn on the analyzer and start the Purging process.
-
Start the Circulation:
Continue purging until the moisture and oxygen levels drop below 100 ppm (ideally below 50 ppm). Once reached, activate the glovebox circulation function to eliminate residual moisture and oxygen, maintaining an environment of less than 1 ppm H2O and O2.
-
Conduct Operator Training:
Organize a refresher training session for all relevant personnel to review proper glovebox operation, safety measures, and maintenance procedures.
